Ask drivers in Dublin, Cork or Galway what frustrates them and you will hear versions of the same story: the app is busy, the phone is hot, and the bank balance does not match the hours.
That is not mystery economics. Freenow’s current guidance lists rates from 15% on standard bookings to 25% on Saver Fleet trips. Gross bookings and take-home pay diverge fast once the applicable platform share, fuel, insurance and licensing are counted.
What a clearer model looks like
Drivers need to know, before they accept a job, whether it is commercially viable. Opaque or rising per-trip take-rates make that harder.
A published monthly plan that lowers commission in exchange for a transparent fee is easier to budget against than a percentage that only becomes clear after the trip.
